Book two separate trips: an Alcatraz visit plus a Bay sail on Adventure Cat
1.5 Hours
Alcatraz tour, Bay sail
Combine two classic San Francisco Bay experiences in one package: a separate Alcatraz tour and an Adventure Cat bay sail. You will depart from different piers, so plan time to get between locations.
You are purchasing a package of two separate trips, and Alcatraz tour times are subject to change. Please arrive to Pier 33 30 minutes early to pick up Alcatraz tickets at will-call with a photo ID. Outside food and beverage and pets are not allowed.
No refunds for the Sail and Jail Package. All sales are final.
Please check in at Pier 39, Gate J (Dock J) 30 minutes prior to your departure time. All sails depart right at the time listed.
There are restrooms on board the boat, but they are not ADA accessible. You may want to use the restroom prior to boarding.
No. Personal/outside food and beverage items are not allowed.
Adventure Cat departs from Pier 39, Dock J (right next to the sea lions). Alcatraz Cruises depart from their home base at Pier 33.
Standing on the windswept dock as the ferry pulls away from Pier 33, the silhouette of Alcatraz Island grows sharper against the gray-green waters of San Francisco Bay. The island's bleached cellhouse crowns a rocky outcrop surrounded by cold, churning currents that once made escape nearly impossible. Alcatraz Island rewards the curious with peeling paint, rusting iron, and the particular silence of a place that has held soldiers, inmates, and activists within its walls.
With an impressive track record spanning over a decade, this catamaran sailing operation consistently delivers memorable Bay experiences. Long-time repeat customers praise the peaceful, diesel-free sailing compared to typical motorized tours, and the friendly, knowledgeable crew earns nearly universal acclaim. Recent guests highlight spotting humpback whales, dolphins, porpoises, and sea lions, adding extra magic to the scenic cruises. The boats are well-maintained and spotless, offering plenty of space both inside and out for comfortable viewing. Families, corporate groups, and special celebrations all seem equally well-served here. The crew gets mentioned repeatedly for being engaging, attentive, and creating a safe atmosphere. Guests recommend bringing a jacket regardless of weather (it's cooler on the water) and securing loose items like hats, glasses, and electronics. The snack boards and bar offerings get positive mentions, and sunset cruises appear particularly popular. Whether it's someone's first time or their fifteenth year coming back, the experience consistently rates as a trip highlight.
Arrived at the last second to a very polite and kind crew of folks. Plenty of time on the water, nice drinks available. There are bathrooms on the boat, and you can lay on the netting. They took us under the Golden Gate and around the other side of Alcatraz! They had coats to borrow as it did get chilly. Very nice time and well worth the money.
