Perched on a cliff above the Chavón River in La Romana, Altos de Chavón transports you to another era the moment you step through its cobblestone lanes. Coral-stone facades, terracotta rooftops, and bougainvillea-draped archways frame every turn. Built in the late 1970s by Italian filmmaker Roberto Coppa, Altos de Chavón was designed as a living cultural center rather than a museum piece, and that spirit still animates the plazas, galleries, and open-air amphitheater today.
We had a great experience with Runners doing the Monkey Land and dune buggy combo! It was a full 8-hour day and very affordable for everything that was included. Our bus arrived on time, was air-conditioned and comfortable, and our tour guide kept us entertained and made the day even more enjoyable. Johnny Tequila led our dune buggy experience and was great! The buggies were definitely one of the highlights of the day, and we also really enjoyed visiting Monkey Land. Lunch was a home-cooked Dominican meal, which was a nice addition to the experience. Overall, everything was well organized, fun, and worth the price. We got to experience a lot in one day without feeling like we overpaid. I would definitely recommend Runners and the Monkey Land + dune buggy combo!
