If you’re even remotely considering visiting Crystal Cave, GO. And if they’re offering the black light tour, book it. Seriously. My lover boy surprised me with a trip to Crystal Cave and we did the black light cave tour, and I cannot say enough good things about this place. I expected it to be cool. I did NOT expect to leave completely fascinated and wanting to learn everything I possibly could about caves. 😂 Our tour guide absolutely made the experience. He was incredibly knowledgeable, clearly loves science and geology, and had that wonderfully laid-back, curious energy that made the tour feel less like someone reciting a memorized script and more like exploring a cave with a really smart, science-loving hippie who happens to know EVERYTHING about what you’re looking at. 😂 He encouraged us to ask questions, happily went down every nerdy little rabbit hole with us, never made us feel rushed, and even gave us some time at the end to look around and really take everything in. You could tell he genuinely enjoys sharing this place with people, and that made such a difference. And the black light tour is INCREDIBLE. Seeing the cave under different lighting completely changes it. The formations, colors, textures, and tiny details you would normally walk right past suddenly come alive. Pictures honestly don’t do it justice. What made me love Crystal Cave even more was learning that it is family owned and operated and has been passed down from mother to daughter. In a world full of giant corporate attractions, there is something really special about visiting a place that has been cared for by the same family for generations. You can feel that this isn’t just a tourist attraction to them. It’s something they genuinely love and want to preserve and share. This place deserves WAY more attention and visitors than it gets. If you’re looking for something different to do, whether you’re a geology nerd, nature lover, curious kid, curious adult, or just someone who thinks wandering underground with a black light sounds ridiculously cool, put Crystal Cave on your list. We went expecting a fun afternoon and left talking about everything we learned on the drive home. Those are the experiences worth supporting. 10/10 would happily follow the science hippie Andy back underground. 😂🔦🪨💜
