1425 Columbia Gorge Way
This operation consistently delivers what kayakers and paddleboarders crave most: stunning scenery paired with a genuinely relaxed vibe. The location in the Columbia River Gorge is repeatedly described as beautiful and peaceful, with wildlife sightings that include ospreys, bald eagles, herons, and jumping salmon. Guides like Jules and Taylor earn enthusiastic praise for their friendly, knowledgeable approach and gentle confidence on the water, making both beginners and experienced paddlers feel comfortable. The equipment is clean and well-maintained, and the staff goes out of their way to help with everything from launching to adjusting seats. The self-service rental option gets thumbs up for convenience and reasonable rates, though be aware the location can be tricky to find initially (calling ahead helps). One reviewer noted the bay has rocks near the surface that are better suited to kayaks than paddleboards. Beyond the paddling itself, visitors appreciate extras like picnic areas with shade and a welcoming atmosphere that works for families, couples, dogs, and community groups alike. It's an ideal spot when you want natural beauty without the stress.
Our family of 7 (2 parents, 3 middle/high school kids, 2 grandparents) had an amazing sunset tour of the river. It's probably the 10th place we've kayaked and easiy the most beautiful. We saw ospreys, egrets, herons, salmon (jumping out of the water), and an absolutely stunning sunset. Our guide Jules was very friendly and relaxed, and was happy to let us paddle along at whatever pace we wanted. Can not recommend enough.
