Set up your crabbing station on a Bay Area pier near the Golden Gate Bridge, then cook and eat a San Francisco-style cioppino together. This class focuses on crabbing skills and regulations, and catches can vary day to day.
Ages 10+ recommended; participants should be over 4.5 ft tall. You should be able to stand 3–4 hours and comfortably carry 25 lbs with two hands; list allergies in advance. Lost snares cost $20 each.
Lost snares during the class are $20 per snare. Rescheduling or cancellations within 72 hours of the start time are subject to forfeiture of the deposit. Cancel a week before the start time for a full refund, or within 24 hours of booking if outside the 72-hour window.
Dress warm and bring extra layers. Bring sun block, hats or beanies, water, and heavy folding chairs (wind can blow chairs around). Bring snacks and drinks if you want them. If you want to take leftovers or crab home, bring waterproof containers and/or Tupperware.
No. The class provides equipment and bait, and you do not need a fishing license.
This crabbing and cooking class is best for ages 10+ and is recommended for participants over 4.5 ft tall so you can see your line. Plan to stand for 3–4 hours and be able to carry at least 25 lbs with two hands comfortably.
