Tina, the owner, sets the tone here, and by most accounts she and her staff are genuinely warm and go out of their way to make guests feel welcome. Trail guides like Savannah, Ariel, and Devin come up repeatedly in reviews, praised for keeping riders safe, snapping photos on the trail, and making first-timers feel completely at ease. The horseback riding trails are scenic and peaceful, and the horses themselves are consistently described as calm, well-maintained, and beginner-friendly. Beyond trail rides, the ranch offers a solid mix of activities including clay shooting, archery, axe throwing, knife throwing, and animal encounters, making it a popular pick for bachelorette groups, family outings, and corporate events. Worth noting for experienced riders: the pace is deliberately laid-back and geared toward beginners, so if you're hoping for something more adventurous on horseback, it may feel tame. One corporate group also had a notably frustrating experience around event logistics and food quantity, so larger groups planning a company outing may want to iron out those details carefully upfront. For travelers visiting Austin looking for a slice of authentic Texas ranch life, this place genuinely delivers a fun, unhurried experience with staff who clearly care about their guests.
My friend and I had the most amazing experience at Lone Star Ranch while we were visiting from Australia. The staff, including Tina the owner, were incredibly friendly - they let us stay after our trail ride and were more than happy to show us around the ranch and introduce us to all the animals. Such a beautiful place and one of our favourite experiences in Texas!
