The Fort Worth Stockyards horseback riding experience earns high marks from most visitors, particularly first-timers and families drawn to the Western atmosphere. The horses consistently come up in reviews as friendly and well cared for, and the trail through the historic stockyards has a charm that's hard to replicate elsewhere. Staff members like Shawna have been highlighted for going out of their way to accommodate guests, and the patience shown with nervous or inexperienced riders has made a real difference for many families. That said, a few recent reviews point to inconsistency with trail guides, with some guests describing a guide who was inattentive and short with beginners. It's worth noting because it comes up more than once. The ride itself is also on the shorter side, so if you're an experienced rider looking for a longer, more scenic outing, this probably isn't the best fit. For casual visitors and first-time riders soaking up the Old West vibe, though, most people leave smiling.
We had a great experience, albeit a super hot day, but the staff was professional and kind. The horses are very well taken care of and their health and well-being are a top priority. The folks running the facility were very professional and handled an extremely difficult customer visiting the Dallas Fort Worth area. Both Anthony and Sharla (sp) dealt with this particular person in a very respectful and kind (Texan) way. While this particular customer tried to bully his way into picking his “own horse” from the stable he was reminded that horses are selected based on the person‘s body type and weight, etc., both Anthony and Sharla maintain steadfast and with a professional decorum. Several of the customers waiting behind them were equally frustrated, but all was well. Thank you for a great ride and experience.
