- Check-In + Safety Briefing
Arrive at the Okihi Welcome Center, check in with staff, and receive a quick overview of the experience and safety guidelines.
- Get Assigned to Your Fossil Station
Your group will be guided to a private or small-group fossil discovery station prepared with fossil-bearing material.
- Learn the Discovery Process
We’ll show you how to properly wash, screen, sort, and recognize fossil material using our custom-designed system.
- Discover Ancient Marine Fossils
Search through 15–16 million-year-old material from the ancient Temblor Sea while staff help identify what you uncover.
- Keep Your Fossils + Capture the Moment
Take home the fossils you find and enjoy plenty of opportunities for photos throughout your experience at Okihi.

- Arrive 10–15 minutes early for check-in and the safety briefing
- Children must be supervised by an adult at all times
- Wear closed-toe shoes
- Expect uneven terrain, dirt, mud, and sun exposure
- Unsafe weather conditions may require the experience to be rescheduled
- Follow staff safety instructions throughout the experience
Cancellation Policy
Cancel or reschedule at no charge up to 48 hours before your booked date. Cancellations within 48 hours incur a 25% fee, and no-shows are nonrefundable. A full refund is provided for cancellations due to circumstances outside your control, such as weather.

Wear closed-toe shoes and clothing that can get wet or muddy. Bring plenty of water, snacks, personal items, and a small box or container for your fossil finds.
