Cruise with experts and watch rehabilitated birds of prey return to the wild
2 Hours
Bird interactions, Education
Join an educational Freedom Flight cruise focused on releasing rehabilitated birds of prey back into the wild. Learn how rehabilitation works, hear each bird’s story, and enjoy close-range viewing in a small-group setting.
This is a limited-capacity event. You need to cancel at least 5 days in advance if you cannot make it.
Bring binoculars and a camera.
An official with Last Chance Forever will be on hand to share each bird’s story. They may also bring ambassador birds that cannot be released.
If the National Weather Service issues lake wind advisories, the cruise will be canceled. Impending lightning storms may also cause a delay or cancellation. If the operator cancels, you will have the opportunity to rebook or get a refund.

Cruising Lake Buchanan and the Colorado River canyon is the kind of experience that earns repeat visitors, and the guides here are a big reason why. Names like Keith, Ally, and Captain Shawn come up in reviews alongside consistent praise for their knowledge of local history, wildlife, and the waterways themselves. The crew is attentive, stopping the boat whenever something worth seeing comes into view, and that kind of thoughtfulness makes a real difference. Wildlife sightings are a highlight, with bald eagles spotted frequently, along with ospreys, white pelicans, and the occasional waterfall tucked into the canyon. Reviewers are upfront that specific sightings are never guaranteed, but the guides work hard to find them. The boat itself gets solid marks for being clean and comfortable, and the overall pace feels relaxed rather than rushed. If you have flexibility, going at different times of year seems worth considering, as several regulars mention that each season offers something a little different. Book a call with Pat to sort out timing and tour length options before you go, bring snacks, sunscreen, and your binoculars, and settle in for what most passengers describe as a genuinely memorable afternoon on the water.
What an enjoyable and relaxing cruise! Our tour guide Ally was exceptional - very knowledgeable about the area and its history and very entertaining. He was also very personable and took the time to visit with each passenger before and during the trip. The gentleman at the ticket booth was also delightful. The scenery was beautiful and the boat was clean, comfortable and well furnished. There was lots to take in, plenty of wildlife, and we even got to see a bald eagle past the time when they are usually there. What a great bonus to a perfect excursion. Highly recommended!
