Sail past Waikiki and Diamond Head with a full bar onboard
2 hours
Catamaran cruise, crew, restrooms
Set sail along Oahu's south shore aboard a U.S. Coast Guard-certified catamaran. Take in coastal scenery from covered or open-air seating, with drinks available for purchase from the full bar.
Check-in: Arrive 30–45 minutes early at Kewalo Basin Harbor (1009 Ala Moana Blvd., Honolulu, near Ala Moana Beach Park and Waikiki). Look for the Makani ticket booth (yellow with blue trim).
Boarding & Departure: Times are usually 11:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m. (check current schedule on sailmakani.com, as they can vary seasonally). Board the luxurious 65-foot catamaran Makani—featuring covered seating, open deck areas, sunbathing nets, restrooms, Bose sound system, and a friendly crew. Before it sails out, there is a safety briefing.
Sailing Out: The captain sets sail from the harbor and cruises along Oahu’s picturesque south shore. Glide over turquoise waters with panoramic views of: The lush green Ko’olau Mountains. The sparkling Honolulu skyline and Waikiki hotels/beaches. Iconic Diamond Head crater.
Onboard Experience: Relax in the sun (or shade), enjoy the breeze, and keep an eye out for marine life—frequent sightings of playful spinner dolphins, green sea turtles, flying fish, colorful reef fish, and (seasonally) humpback whales. The crew shares fun facts about Hawaii's waters and wildlife. Full bar available for drinks (purchase)
Return: After about 2 hours of smooth, stable sailing, the catamaran heads back to Kewalo Basin Harbor, arriving around 1:00 p.m. (for 11:00 a.m. start) or 4:00 p.m. (for 2:00 p.m. start).
Full refund with 48 hours' notice. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before departure and no-shows forfeit the voucher or full payment. Full refund if the operator cancels due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Travelers consistently rave about the exceptional crew who make these catamaran tours special. From Bo and the team to the front desk staff, everyone gets praised for being welcoming, friendly, and going above and beyond with customer service. One guest even mentioned how accommodating they were when traffic caused them to miss their scheduled departure, switching them to a later tour without hassle. The experience itself delivers on the scenic beauty front. Guests regularly spot turtles, dolphins, and whales during their sails around Oahu's coastline. The open bar is a huge hit and considered great value, with the sunset cruise option being particularly popular for its picturesque views and relaxed atmosphere. A few guests wished for more narration or commentary during the sail to learn about what they were seeing, though this seems like a minor preference rather than a deal-breaker. Overall, it's described as a fun outing for celebrations, couples, and families alike, with reasonable pricing that makes it feel worth every penny.
Beautiful vessel and a great relaxing ride. Very friendly accommodating crew.
