    Itinerary

    -Depart Wrangell for a 1 hour ride by boat to the Observatory -Meet the USFS for a safety briefing on the trail and observatory -15-30 minute, 1/2 mile walk to the Observation Deck -2.5 to 3 hours with the bears -15-30 minute, 1/2 mile walk back to the boat -1 hour boat ride back to Wrangell

    Important details

    • Ages 8+ only
    • Requires walking 1 mile on an uneven crushed-gravel trail with wooden bridges and stairs, unassisted at a regular pace
    • Leave food, candy, gum, nicotine pouches, tobacco, and scented or flavored items on the boat; they are prohibited at the observatory
    • Leave personal bear spray and firearms at home or at your hotel
    • Follow your guides' directions at the observatory
    • Diabetic travelers may bring a snack to the observatory with guide and USFS approval

    Cancellation Policy

    Cancellations must be in writing. Deposits are 100% refundable 60 days before the reservation and 50% refundable 30 days before. No refunds are available less than 30 days before or for no-shows. If cancelled for weather or mechanical issues, rescheduling will be attempted; receive a full refund if rescheduling is not possible. If your ship cancels the port stop or is late, or travel issues make you miss the tour, 50% of your deposit is refunded.
