Beneath the turquoise shallows off the lower Florida Keys, Looe Key National Marine Sanctuary Outstanding Florida Water shelters one of the most spectacular stretches of living coral reef in North America. Elkhorn and staghorn corals rise from the seafloor while parrotfish, angelfish, and sea turtles glide past in water so clear you can trace every detail from the surface. Whether you arrive by charter boat or guided dive vessel, Looe Key National Marine Sanctuary Outstanding Florida Water rewards every visit with an intimacy that larger reef systems rarely offer. The protected designation keeps the ecosystem remarkably healthy, making each underwater encounter feel genuinely wild.
Great crew with Captain Katie, Dive Master Allison, and Guide and Dive Master Jim. Captain slowed and stopped boat to observe pod of dolphins and multiple turtles on the way out and back. Jim did a great job in finding and pointing out fish. Conditions were great with no current and waves. Like diving in a swimming pool. Multiple tropical fish. Saw Caribbean reef shark.
