Hilo Shore Excursion to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

Itinerary

Pick Up Locations: Hilo Harbor, Hilo Airport, and Hilo Target parking lot

Honolii Beach We will drive north on the Hilo tour to see the surf spots were I will drive slowly down a narrow road. Your guide will narrate about the surfers as they ride waves.

We will drive over old bridges through lush jungle seeing many waterfalls. You will learn about local plants, history, and real estate.

Rainbow Falls We'll then stop to take photos of you at Rainbow Waterfalls, and view a stunning optical illusion.

We will stop for iced coconuts if the vendor is there, and Dole Whipped ice cream at arc of Hilo.

Volcano Village We stop look for wild pigs to feed in one area. It is about a 35 minute drive up to volcano village, and your guide will provide you with some authentic Hawaii music for the trip.

We will then shop for things made in Hawaii at a gift shop, and food to go at the general store in volcano village.

Hawaii Volcano National Park We will drive to the crater overlook, and your guide will tell you about the plants, history, mythology, and take pictures of you with the crater. We will go to the steam vents, where your guide will show how to make the vent steam a lot. We will go to the volcano house to shop, followed by a drive through tunnels of Ohia trees down the chain of craters road to a lava field. In the lava fields your guide will show you peacock lava, and take pictures of you inside of a fissure, followed by a walk through a lava tube.

Macadamia Nut Farm Your guide will play some Hawaiian music for the 35 minutes drive to the Macadamia nut farm. There you can sample, Macadamia nuts, chocolate, and shop.

Big Island Candies It will then take 15 minutes to get to Big Island Candies. There you can watch them making chocolate Candies behind glass while shopping, and sampling the best chocolate in hawaii.

Liliuokalani Garden You guide will drive past the Ice Pond to Liliuokalani Garden, where you can observe local fish and wildlife. We will look for turtles, and nene geese on the hilo tour.

Downtown Hilo Farmers Market In downtown Hilo you can shop for hand made things in Hawaii, jewelry, Aloha shirts, fruit, and much more.

Blacksand Beach Finally, your tour will conclude with a drive through an area with the most brackish ponds in the world, where you can see fish, nene geese, turtles, and a Blacksand Beach. This is a great photo opportunity!
