Tackle 10 guided rock challenges with tunnels, narrows, and sky bridges in 2.5 hours
Approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes
Guide, Helmet, 10 challenges
Explore rock halls, squeezes, tunnels, and scrambles on a guided challenge course without harnessed climbing or rappelling. Choose your level on each obstacle, with walk-arounds available.
Ages 6+; guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and have a signed liability waiver. Plan to cover at least 1.5 miles over uneven terrain with steep hills; closed-toe shoes are required. Gratuity is recommended at 10%.
Full refund if the operator cancels due to weather or extreme situations. Cancel 10+ days before for a refund minus fees ($15 per person plus tour booking fee for 2–4 hour tours). No refunds or reschedules with less than 10 days notice. If late, no refund and you cannot join.
Wear closed-toe shoes (required) and choose clothes that let you move; long pants can help prevent scrapes, and clothing may get dirty, snagged, or ripped on sandstone. Bring water in a reusable bottle; consider a snack if you’ll want one during the tour. You may also want a hair tie (for long hair), bug repellent, rain gear, and layered clothing depending on the season.
Plan to walk at least 1.5 miles over alternating terrain (rocks, roots, and leaves) with steep inclines and hills. You should be in reasonably good health and able to handle uneven ground.
Yes. All challenges are optional, and walk-arounds are available if you feel claustrophobic, have a fear of heights, or simply decide not to attempt a specific obstacle.
With a perfect track record across hundreds of reviews, this family-run operation consistently delivers memorable outdoor adventures in the Hocking Hills area. Jason and his wife, along with guides Aaron and Kayce, get praised repeatedly for their patience, safety focus, and genuine passion for what they do. The guides aren't just skilled at climbing and rappelling instruction—they're also nature educators who share fascinating insights about local plants, geology, and ecosystems throughout each adventure. First-timers with height anxieties report feeling completely safe and supported, while experienced adventurers appreciate the unique rock formations on the private property. The Rock Challenge and rappelling tours are especially popular, drawing families and couples who want something beyond the typical tourist experience. Reviewers consistently mention feeling like more than just customers—the personal, down-to-earth approach makes each group feel special. The owner Steve gets specific recognition for flexibility with rescheduling due to weather. While one visitor mentioned an uncomfortable political conversation from a guide, the overwhelming consensus is that these adventures are approachable for all skill levels (ages 6+) and represent the highlight of many Hocking Hills trips.
I would HIGHLY recommend going rock rappelling at High Rock Adventures!! My boyfriend and I have never been so this was our first time doing something like this and it exceeded our expectations! Our guides, Martin and Casey were amazing!! They were so laid back, nice and funny and really made the group laugh and feel comfortable! The rocks were challenging and definitely made me overcome a fear of just letting myself go backwards but I loved every second of it. We had so much fun, I wish we could’ve done it twice!! The views were amazing, the rocks were so pretty and it was just a great time overall :)
