Cruise passengers rave about the fishing charters operated by captains Herm, Josh, and Jared, with multiple families calling it the highlight of their Alaska trip. The halibut fishing consistently delivers, with guests regularly catching 15-30 fish per outing, often getting bites within minutes of lines hitting the water. What stands out is how the captains customize each trip—they'll balance fishing time with wildlife viewing, taking you to spot whales, bears, sea otters, and eagles without making you feel rushed. The boats are well-maintained and comfortable, and pickup from the cruise port runs smoothly. The personal touch matters here. Captains like Herm have repeat guests coming back year after year, which speaks volumes. They're patient with first-timers (including kids as young as 8), know exactly where the fish are biting, and genuinely get excited when you land a good one. The fish processing and shipping home is handled efficiently if you want to keep your catch. Booking directly with them rather than through the cruise line saves money while getting you a more private, flexible experience that adjusts to what your group wants to see and do.

Highly recommend. I was pretty adamant not to go fishing, I've never fished a day in my life. Ended up going with my family and it made my trip. Im booking another Alaska cruise just so we can come back and fish again. Our guy (forgot his name) was great, my son was with us and he made him feel like king of the ocean catching fish. Only complaint we caught so many fish and definitely underestimated the arm strength needed to reel them in. We travel regularly and this is our all time (all age groups) favorite memory.
