Ride horses in Gallatin National Forest, then raft 8 miles on the Yellowstone River
Horseback ride, lunch, raft trip
Spend a full day combining horseback riding and a family-friendly rafting trip, with lunch included. Start in Gardiner and enjoy views toward Yellowstone National Park as you ride and paddle.
Riders must be at least 7 years old and weigh 300 lb or less. After check-in, you drive your own vehicle to the ranch on a steep gravel road that is not recommended for large RVs, trailers, motorcycles, or low-clearance vehicles. If you choose to buy photos, the cost is extra—clarify the amount with Greetwell before booking.
Payment is due at the time of reservation. No refunds for cancellations within 48 hours of departure. Cancel outside 48 hours for a full refund. Full refund if we cancel due to weather, mechanical failure, unsafe conditions, or insufficient reservations.
Wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Each horse has a small saddle bag with minimal space for items like a camera, water bottle, and a light jacket.
Wear a bathing suit, shorts, and a T-shirt—anything you’re comfortable getting wet in. Choose synthetic or quick-drying layers instead of cotton. For footwear, use a water shoe that secures around the ankle (no flip flops or Crocs). River shoes are available for your use and are included.
Bring your own rain gear. If it rains and the horseback ride still runs, the ranch does not provide rain gear.
The Flying Pig Adventure Center at 511 Scott St. Gardiner, MT
Flying Pig's guides consistently steal the show here. Seth, Preston, Freddy, Bobby, Iver, and Cadence all get enthusiastic shout-outs for being knowledgeable, fun, and excellent with kids. The staff creates an energetic, friendly atmosphere that makes families feel comfortable and entertained throughout their trips. Wildlife spotting along the Yellowstone River adds natural excitement, with guests mentioning elk sightings and beautiful scenery between the rapids. The operation itself runs smoothly from start to finish. Multiple reviewers praise the seamless booking process and organization, with staff going the extra mile (like Ava helping plan an entire anniversary day). One practical advantage: they're the only Gardiner company that starts right at their riverside location, meaning no bus ride to begin your adventure. The 8-mile trip seems particularly popular, lasting around two hours with opportunities to jump in the water. One guest did mention the road to their cowboy cookout location is rough for RVs, so smaller vehicles are recommended for that particular experience. Overall, this is a family-friendly outfit with genuinely excellent guides who know the river and make people want to return.
