Bring extra warm layers, a windbreaker or waterproof jacket, a headlamp, sunscreen, sunglasses, a first-aid kit, a fire starter, and a cell phone. Keep your bike in excellent working condition and carry repair supplies such as tubes, a pump, tire patches, tire levers, a spare derailleur hanger, a master link, a multi-tool with chain breaker, lube, and a shock pump.
From the shuttle drop-off, pedal 0.25 miles to Porcupine Rim Campground for Lower UPS. To ride Upper, Middle, and Lower UPS, pedal 1.2 miles up the road to the Kokopelli Trail entrance, then 1.7 more miles to the UPS trailhead. This option adds 3 miles and 600 feet of climbing. Exit UPS at Stop Sign #3 and connect to Eagle Eye.

5 stars for Hazard County Shuttle. I booked a Cataract Canyon shuttle with Geoff for May 2026 and the whole experience was excellent. Geoff was very responsive throughout the planning process and after the trip itself. Flows were on the lower side around 6k-ish, but we still had an amazing trip with great camping and hiking throughout Cataract Canyon. After the trip, Geoff even followed up to ask how everything went, which I really appreciated. A special thanks as well to Deb for the thoughtful note left with our keys at the takeout — such a nice personal touch to wrap up the trip. I would definitely use HCS again, especially if Cataract gets some higher flows in the future.
