I want to join your tour, but I don’t eat meat. Can I still buy a ticket?
Yes, we now have a delicious Vegetarian Option that features Black-eyed Pea Soup, Veggie Jambalaya and more!
I am allergic to shellfish. Can you accommodate that?
There are no shellfish served during the tour. However, 2 of the dishes are fried in the same oil as shellfish (shrimp, oysters), so we will want to know if that is problematic for you.
I am allergic to tree nuts. Can you accommodate that?
Yes, we can offer a substitute to our 2 dishes with pecans. However, please note there is a chance of cross-contamination with anything prepared in the candy shops we visit.
I am allergic to onions/garlic/peppers/dairy/gluten. Can you accommodate that?
Unfortunately we cannot accommodate any of those allergies as it would require redesigning nearly the entire menu.
Do my kids need a ticket?
There is only one ticket type, and all attendees require a ticket. Infants and babies in strollers/carriers who will not be eating or sitting do not require a ticket. This tour involves being seated and listening quietly at times; foodies of all ages are welcome.

Gary stands out as the star guide here, earning consistent praise for his passionate storytelling and ability to weave New Orleans history with its culinary traditions. Guests love how he brings the city to life through humor and deep knowledge, making the tour engaging for everyone from history buffs to families with kids. Other guides like John, Meg, and Beth also lead tours, with most reviewers leaving satisfied and well-fed after sampling classic dishes like gumbo, muffaletta, and pralines at various French Quarter spots. A couple of visitors felt the tour leaned too heavily on scripted information or included stops at touristy souvenir shops that felt more commercial than authentic. The pace can vary by guide, with some delivering facts quickly while others create more space for conversation. Still, the overwhelming majority found this to be an excellent introduction to New Orleans, especially when done early in a trip to help plan the rest of your dining adventures. If you're looking for a foundation in Creole and Cajun cuisine combined with local history, this tour delivers that experience.
