Captain Derek and his son Kama run this shark cage diving operation with the kind of professionalism and warmth that reviewers can't stop raving about. This father-son duo consistently gets called out for their deep knowledge of Hawaiian culture and marine life, thorough safety briefings, and genuine care for their guests. The sharks show up reliably and quickly once the cage drops, with multiple reviewers mentioning immediate sightings of Galapagos sharks circling close. As a bonus, they take time to spot other wildlife on the journey out, including dolphins and flying fish. The experience feels authentically local rather than mass tourism, with guests appreciating the cultural insights shared along the way. People mention feeling completely safe throughout, even in choppy conditions, thanks to the crew's attentiveness and expertise. The boat is reportedly new and comfortable. Fair warning: come prepared with seasickness medication if you're prone to nausea, as a few people mentioned the motion hitting them hard after getting out of the cage. Booking the early morning slot seems to be the sweet spot for optimal conditions.
We took our whole family shark cage diving. Our kids are 5, 8 and 11 years old. They all had a blast! The experience was all around amazing. The crew, Derek and Kama (father & son) were so helpful and knowledgeable. They were incredibly safe and made us all feel like family. We saw many sharks while in the cage as well as dolphins on the way out and back into the harbor. I can’t say enough about how organized, professional and fun the staff were. This was an amazing family experience and we can’t wait to do it again.
