The passionate volunteers running this historic FDR presidential yacht consistently earn praise for their knowledge and friendliness. Guests rave about the two-hour bay cruises that combine beautiful scenery with fascinating presidential history, passing landmarks like Alcatraz and the Bay Bridge. The ship itself is impeccably restored and maintained, giving visitors an authentic glimpse into Roosevelt's era. Multiple reviewers mention the experience exceeded their expectations and made perfect outings for family members of all ages. The educational aspect really shines through, with docents who love sharing stories about the vessel and its place in American history. Some guests connected with volunteer crew members over shared military backgrounds, adding a personal touch to the experience. Practical tips from repeat visitors include dressing in layers since it gets windy on the water. The location in Jack London Square offers easy access via ferry from San Francisco, making this a standout alternative to typical bay cruises for both locals and out-of-town guests wanting something more meaningful than just sightseeing.
I had taken a tour of the USS Potomac before and decided to go on a 3-hour tour aboard this historic ship. This was the Exploring Ships Around the Bay tour and the speaker was great, extremely knowledgeable, and we got to see ships you normally wouldn't be able to see. The staff was great, highly recommended!
