Off-Road Backcountry Tour at Mountain Lake Lodge

Ride Mountain Lake's backcountry trails in an off-road vehicle with a guide. Choose between two routes that combine mountain scenery with local history and natural science.

• Take the Bald Knob route to Giles County's highest point for 180-degree views of the Appalachian Mountains
• Explore early-1900s cabins and a historic stone clubhouse at 4,043 feet on the Prospect Rock route
• Descend to Mountain Lake's lakebed on either route to learn about its natural water cycle

Important details

• Anyone under 18 requires an accompanying adult over 21.
• Children must be able to sit in a seat without assistance and wear a seat belt and helmet.
• Participation is not permitted during pregnancy or with a heart condition, a recent stroke, back pain or back issues, or another medical condition that prevents climbing, balancing, or supporting your own weight.
• The ride can be rough and covers rocky mountain terrain.
• Wear shoes with closed toes and heels.
• Wear your seat belt and helmet whenever the vehicle is moving.
