Tales of the Kapa Moe Luau with Ohana Seating in Kapalua

The Ritz-Carlton at Kapalua delivers genuinely exceptional hospitality when it fires on all cylinders. Guests consistently praise the warmth and professionalism of staff members like Trevor Moran, Roberto at the front desk, and the attentive pool and Club Lounge teams. The property itself is stunning, with pristine grounds, beautiful pools, and direct beach access complete with complimentary chairs and umbrellas. Anniversary and honeymoon celebrations receive thoughtful touches like handwritten notes, local gifts, and room upgrades. The Banyan Tree restaurant earns rave reviews for ocean views and cocktails, while activities like the e-bike tours and lei-making classes add authentic Hawaiian flavor. The location on Kapalua's quieter northwest coast offers tranquility, though you'll need to drive about 10 minutes for different beach options. Service quality appears inconsistent, with some families reporting slow pool and restaurant service, difficulty securing dining reservations, and feeling overlooked despite the luxury positioning. A handful of guests mention maintenance issues like dated rooms, malfunctioning TVs, and pools that felt colder than advertised. The onsite luau receives mixed feedback and may not justify the premium price. It's worth noting the nearby Honolulu Market offers reasonably priced groceries and snacks, which seasoned guests recommend for stocking your room. Overall, this remains a beautiful resort with moments of true magic, particularly for couples celebrating special occasions, though families with young children have had more varied experiences.
