Arrive for your scheduled private boat charter even if it is raining in your area. A few showers are normal in the tropics, and your captain makes the final decision based on weather and sea conditions.
Physical fitness is required to ride on the boat or kayak during the charter.
Medical facilities on the vessels are limited. If illness or injury occurs, care must be requested by radio and may be delayed until transport to a medical facility.

We did not book ahead and just showed up on a Friday afternoon. Fondo de Cristal Tours was the only company open. We asked for a snorkel tour and they said normally you need a reservation but they would see if one of their captains would be willing to take our party of 4. Captain Billy agreed and gave us a lovely tour in English as my mother and husband don’t speak Spanish. He showed us houses and marinas on our way out and stopped at two different mangrove keys so we could see sea life. He was patient and even called out a better ladder for my mother who had trouble getting in on the attached ladder. He made sure we got our full 3 hours and did not rush at all. Well worth our time and money.
