The Empire State Building rises from the heart of Midtown Manhattan as one of the most recognizable silhouettes in the world, and seeing it from the open sky transforms it from a postcard image into a living, breathing landmark. On this private helicopter tour from Westchester, the Empire State Building becomes a centerpiece of your aerial journey over New York City, framed against the dense grid of skyscrapers, the shimmer of the Hudson and East Rivers, and the sprawl of the five boroughs below. Lifting off from Westchester County Airport means skipping the congestion of city heliports and arriving at the Manhattan skyline in style, with the Empire State Building drawing closer through the cockpit windows minute by minute.
From the air, you will trace the contours of Central Park, glide past the spire of the Chrysler Building, and bank toward the Empire State Building for views that ground-level visitors simply cannot get. The Art Deco crown, the slender antenna, the way the tower anchors the avenues running north and south, all of it comes into sharp focus from your private cabin. The headset crackles with commentary while the rotor hum settles into the background, and the light shifting across the limestone facade gives the Empire State Building a different mood depending on the hour, whether washed in golden afternoon sun or glowing with its signature evening colors.
This experience suits couples planning a milestone celebration, families wanting an unforgettable first look at New York, photographers chasing once-in-a-lifetime angles, and travelers from the Westchester area who want a seamless, private way to take in the skyline. If the Empire State Building has lived on your bucket list as a place to visit, seeing it from a helicopter turns that wish into something far more cinematic, a memory tied to the rhythm of flight and the full sweep of Manhattan spread out beneath you.
Wings Air consistently delivers what reviewers call "once-in-a-lifetime" experiences, with their team receiving particular praise across the board. Staff members like Michael, Anna, pilots Joe, Ryan, Jorge, and Kieran get called out by name for being welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in making flights special. The pilots don't just fly—they point out landmarks, share interesting facts, and help capture perfect photo moments. The ground experience impresses too, with a comfortable lounge offering snacks and drinks while you wait, and the team stays in touch via WhatsApp to answer questions before your visit. The main hiccup travelers mention involves occasional scheduling changes and delays. A couple of reviewers experienced frustrating last-minute time adjustments or sunset flights that got pushed to after dark, which understandably affected their planned experience. One reviewer who booked months in advance felt the company wasn't flexible when they needed to stick to their original time slot. That said, most flights seem to go off without a hitch, and when delays do happen, the team tries to make it right with extended flight time. The overwhelming majority describe their flights as breathtaking, safe, and worth every penny.
Our experience with the Wings Air Helicopters team was absolutely amazing! A huge thank you to Samantha and Ryan—my wife and I had the best time. The communication was excellent, and everything was crystal clear from the very beginning. I personally recommend the 45-minute tour that includes the Statue of Liberty; the hotel pick-up and drop-off service is also a fantastic addition. Our pilot, Ryan, was incredible. You can truly tell he loves what he does. Since it was our first time in a helicopter, we weren't used to the sounds or movements, but Ryan explained everything in advance and made us feel incredibly comfortable. Thank you, Ryan, you rock! Best regards from Fernando and Anamaria.
