- Moderate exertion is required over rough, rocky terrain. The route is not suitable for wheelchairs, strollers, or walkers and is not recommended for people with mobility issues or very small children

The sanctuary is about 4 miles down a fairly well-maintained gravel road. Expect a bumpy ride, and drive slowly when it's wet—the road can become slippery.
Bring a jacket during non-summer months. In June, July, and August, prepare for possible afternoon monsoons, rain, and mud. Hiking boots are recommended for the rocky or muddy terrain.
