Captain, safety gear, amenities
Explore the Rappahannock River aboard Pisces, a 58-foot sailing catamaran reserved for your group. Settle in with family or friends, then join the sailing or relax as you prefer.
#Boarding & Welcome (0:00–0:10)
Meet your captain at the Tides Inn Marina and step aboard Pisces. After a brief safety orientation and a quick tour of the boat, settle into the cockpit or on the bow with your beverages and snacks.
#Departing the Marina (0:10–0:20)
We cast off and motor out of the marina, enjoying views of the Tides Inn and Carter’s Creek. This is a great time for photos as we ease into open water.
#Sailing the Rappahannock (0:20–2:40)
Once clear of the channel, we raise the sails and head out onto the Rappahannock River. Depending on wind and conditions, you may:
Relax and enjoy the breeze
Take the helm and learn the basics of steering
Try trimming the sails with guidance from your captain
Spot osprey, dolphins, and other Chesapeake wildlife
The route varies with the day’s weather, ensuring the best sailing experience possible.
#Enjoy the Moment
Guests who added our wine & charcuterie package will find it beautifully arranged and ready to enjoy in the cockpit. BYO beverages and snacks are always welcome.
#Return to the Marina (2:40–3:00)
We make a relaxing sail or motor back toward Carter’s Creek, giving you a final chance to savor the scenery. As we arrive back at the dock, your captain will help you disembark and answer any last questions about the area or sailing.
Free cancellation within 48 hours of booking. After that, customer-initiated cancellations forfeit the 50% deposit. Full refund if the captain cancels due to unsafe conditions, steady rain, or unpleasant weather.
Yes. Pisces has a marine toilet for your use.
Apply spray sunscreen on the dock, or spray it into your hands before applying it onboard.
Bring your own towels or personal comfort items.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time aboard Pisces with Clay! My husband and I took a 4 day/3 night live-aboard course (ASA 104/114) with Sail & Surf Adventures and could not have been more pleased. The accommodations (including a comfortable berth and private head) and meal provisions were more than adequate. Clay is a fantastic teacher who was able to adjust and adapt his instructional skills to meet us where we were at, providing the best opportunity for us to achieve our goals of becoming competent blue water cruisers. We were able to practice docking and anchoring skills while visiting quaint and cozy marina towns in the river deltas of the Chesapeake. I HIGHLY recommend a live-aboard and LEARN-aboard charter with Clay and Sail & Surf Adventures!
