I did the Discover Jayuya tour and it was definitely one of the highlights of my Puerto Rico trip! Shoutout to my guys Alvin and Arnie who looked out for me the entire time! I traveled solo but shared the tour with locals, so I had the true Boricua experience. Everyone welcomed me with open arms and adopted me as an honorary Puerto Rican. I enjoyed the drive through the mountains and hearing Alvin talk about Taino history, culture, and much more. Jayuya i. During my time in Puerto Rico, I learned about the African and Spanish influence, so it was amazing to learn more about the Taino influence. After the Taino museum in Jayuya, we stopped and ate lunch at a local river and went swimming afterwards. We went to a local coffee shop afterwards and then went into the center of town to learn more about the history of Jayuya. We then did a private tour at a local distillery which I thought was incredible. On the ride back to San Juan, we stopped and ate dinner. Everyone suggested that I try Chinese food in Puerto Rico and it did not disappoint! I enjoyed talking with Alvin, Arnie, and the locals and I left feeling satisfied, welcomed, and treated like family. During my 14 days in Puerto Rico, I hung out with locals and traveled around the island to see a different side of Puerto Rico than most tourists are used to. I will be back in Puerto Rico soon and I’m looking forward to doing the Naguabo and/or Arecibo tour with them. To Alvin and Arnie, I thank you for making my trip AMAZING! Gracias por su ayuda!
