Meet-Up at Park Road Park (Fields 5 & 6) Meet Greenway eBike Rentals at the greenway access parking area right by ballfields 5 and 6 in Park Road Park. Parking is plentiful and convenient. Your e-bikes will be unloaded and prepped for fitting, followed by a quick helmet adjustment and safety briefing on pedal-assist controls and trail etiquette.
Park Road Park Loop & Nature Corridor Glide out onto the paved greenway path, starting along the tranquil, tree-lined southern section of Little Sugar Creek. Cruise past the Park Road Park lake, sports fields, and restored wetlands as you get comfortable with your e-bike’s smooth power assist.
Freedom Park & Lakeside Rest Stop Head north along the winding creek corridor into iconic Freedom Park. Take a scenic loop around the lake and fountain, passing historic landmarks like the 1913 steam locomotive while enjoying a brief pause for water and photos under the canopy.
The "Trail of History" Bronze Sculptures Continue toward Midtown to explore the larger-than-life bronze statues along the Trail of History. Your guide will bring Mecklenburg County’s heritage to life through the stories of:
Captain James Jack: The daring ride with the Mecklenburg Declaration.
William Henry Belk & James B. Duke: Pioneers of retail, energy, and industry.
Thomas Spratt & Chief Haigler: Early settlement and Catawba Nation diplomacy.
Thaddeus Tate & Jane Wilkes: Visionaries in civic leadership and healthcare.
Scenic Southern Glide & Wrap-Up Turn back for a relaxing, effortless pedal-assist ride heading south. Enjoy views of the creek and natural surroundings before finishing right back at the Park Road Park greenway entry at Fields 5 and 6.
