Try a guided paddle lesson and beginner-friendly SUP yoga in calm Ala Moana waters
2.75 hours
Paddle lesson, SUP yoga class
Combine a paddling lesson with a playful SUP yoga class in the calm, protected waters of Ala Moana. Start with safety and technique on the beach, then enjoy a leisurely paddle before anchoring for an all-levels yoga flow.
No experience necessary; suitable for all levels. We will be in deep water; lifejackets are provided for anyone who is not a confident swimmer.
What should I wear/bring?
Come prepared for the elements. Please wear sunscreen and a hat. Wear clothing that you feel comfortable moving and stretching in, and that you are okay with getting wet. Bathing suits and lycra yoga clothes work well. Soft water bottles are easiest to bring on the boards (please no single-use plastic!)
Is there a place to store valuables?
We will have a safe place to store your keys, wallet, or phone. Please avoid bringing unnecessary valuables to the beach.
What about the weather?
Classes run rain or shine, however, in the event of unsafe water conditions (waves, wind, or lightning), class will be cancelled. We will notify you via email or phone 30 minutes prior to class in the event of a cancellation.
Free cancellation or reschedule up to 24 hours before class. Within 24 hours, no-shows, and arrivals more than 5 minutes late are nonrefundable. Classes run rain or shine; if unsafe water conditions cancel class, we will try to reschedule or issue a full refund. You will be notified about cancellations approximately 30 minutes prior.

Paddleboard yoga on the ocean sounds intimidating, but most first-timers here found it surprisingly doable and genuinely magical. The instructors really seem to make the experience – names like Kelsey, Allie, Sariah, and Lety come up repeatedly for being attentive, encouraging, and skilled at working with everyone from total beginners to experienced yogis. They'll guide you through getting comfortable on the board before moving into poses, and they're great about modifications and meeting people where they are. Expect dreamy moments like doing downward dog while gazing at the water's surface, dipping your hands and feet in to cool off, and maybe even spotting a sea turtle swimming beneath you. The setting at Magic Island offers gorgeous mountain and ocean views, and if you time it right, you might catch Friday night fireworks or a stunning sunrise. There's one notable complaint worth mentioning: a visitor had a frustrating experience with a Friday evening instructor in August 2025 who seemed unprepared (not enough anchors for all the boards), had a negative attitude from the start, and mishandled the photo add-on situation in a way that felt dismissive and unprofessional. That stood out as an outlier in an otherwise overwhelmingly positive collection of feedback. Speaking of photos, the $10 add-on gets mentioned as totally worth it. Most people describe this as a highlight of their Hawaii trip – challenging enough to feel like an accomplishment but relaxing enough to melt away travel stress. It's particularly popular with honeymooners and those looking for something uniquely Hawaiian beyond the usual beach day.
Absolutely amazing experience! Kurt (I think) was a phenomenal instructor. His energy was inspiring and motivating. For someone like myself who has never paddleboarded, it was fun and relaxing! Gorgeous views!
