First-time surfers consistently rave about getting up on their boards within their very first lesson, with instructors like Big Todd, Mikey, Yogi, and Kalani earning special praise for their teaching abilities. These instructors don't waste time with lengthy beach sessions – they cover the basics on land, then get you in the water quickly where the real learning happens. Parents love that even young kids succeed here, and nervous beginners appreciate how the patient, encouraging approach builds confidence fast. Beyond the excellent instruction, this spot stands out for flexibility and value. They accommodate last-minute bookings (even hours before closing), and board rentals are remarkably affordable at $15 for two hours. The instructors bring personality to the lessons too, sharing Hawaiian culture and keeping things fun with plenty of laughs. Whether you're booking a group lesson, semi-private session, or just renting equipment, the front desk staff create a welcoming vibe that makes the whole experience feel less touristy and more authentic.
Our kids (15 and 11) had such a great first experience surfing! Kalani, their instructor, was so kind, patient and helpful making sure they are safe and successful. It was so fun watching them getting more and more confident with each wave! Mahalo from two happy kiddos and a grateful mama :)
