Walking past the classic wrap-around verandas gave me such a deep appreciation for the early trading post days. ​The experience was made even better by the people keeping its story alive. We had the pleasure of speaking directly with a wonderful volunteer who shared an absolute wealth of knowledge with us. He detailed the fascinating background of the house and the incredible history of the surrounding area. ​Places like this are incredibly worth preserving. Whether you are deeply interested in pioneer history or simply enjoying a waterfront stroll, this is a beautiful stop that perfectly anchors the city to its roots.
