First-time surfers consistently rave about getting up on waves within their first 10-15 minutes, even those who were initially nervous about their ability to learn. The instructors here—names like Mark, Keikai, Kevin, Luke, and Jayden come up repeatedly—have a gift for breaking down technique into simple, actionable steps while keeping the vibe relaxed and encouraging. The photography package seems to be a popular add-on that captures those milestone moments, and the shuttle service makes logistics surprisingly easy for visitors staying in Waikiki hotels. The teaching approach works: nearly everyone reports standing on their first wave, with instructors actively watching and giving real-time corrections that help students improve throughout the lesson. A couple of reviewers felt their private lessons didn't offer enough personal attention or independence, particularly when combined with group sessions, and one noted the time in water felt shorter after accounting for safety videos and travel to the beach. That said, the overwhelming majority describe patient, supportive instruction that makes beginners feel safe while having genuine fun. The laid-back Hawaiian vibe might feel slightly disorganized at first, but most find it becomes part of the charm once you're out on the water catching waves.
