Brotherhood Bridge crosses the Mendenhall River in the Mendenhall Valley, one of Juneau's most accessible natural corridors. The bridge takes its name from the Alaska Native Brotherhood, an organization founded in Southeast Alaska in 1912 to advocate for the civil rights and cultural preservation of Tlingit and other Indigenous peoples of the region.

From the bridge, visitors gain a broad view of the river's gravel bars and side channels, habitats that support some of Alaska's most iconic wildlife. Bald eagles, great blue herons, and mergansers are regular sights, while brown and black bears visit the riverbanks during salmon runs each summer and fall.

The surrounding Mendenhall Valley frames the experience with peaks rising sharply on either side, their slopes draped in Sitka spruce and western hemlock. On clear days, the distant face of Mendenhall Glacier is visible from the valley floor, reminding visitors that this landscape is still actively shaped by ice.
