The Guy Bradley Visitor Center anchors the Flamingo district of Everglades National Park, the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States. The center is named for Guy Bradley, an Audubon warden whose murder by plume hunters in 1905 helped galvanize the early conservation movement and eventually led to protections that made this park possible.

Inside, interpretive exhibits cover the ecology of the Everglades, from its slow-moving river of grass to the brackish transition zone around Flamingo. Outside, a boardwalk and observation deck overlook the marina and the broad shallows of Florida Bay, where you can spot brown pelicans, osprey, and the occasional American crocodile without leaving the shoreline.

Active visitors can rent canoes, kayaks, or bicycles at the marina, or join a ranger-led boat tour into the backcountry. The nearby Nine Mile Pond loop is one of the most rewarding paddling circuits in South Florida. Birding is exceptional throughout the year, and the night skies here, far from city lights, are among the darkest in the eastern United States.
