The Cub Lake Trail and the Fern Lake Trail both begin nearby, offering routes that climb through forest and open terrain toward destinations well above the valley floor. Those who prefer a gentler pace can walk the unpaved road along the river and take in the mountain panorama, with Longs Peak visible to the south on clear days.
