Nothing but great things to write about the Maui Volcanoes Tour. Greg arrived at our hotel promptly at 12:30 and hopped out of the van with a smile to greet me, my husband, my 15-year old twins and my mother. I really appreciated that he introduced himself to all of us, and already had our names down pat before we even met. Greg was friendly, knowledgeable, amusing, helpful and genuinely kind. Every aspect of the tour - with the culmination being sunset at Haleakala - was timed perfectly. Even when the clouds rolled in out of nowhere and light rain began minutes before sunset, it felt as though his pure optimism willed the clouds to keep on rolling so we could get our perfect sunset views and pictures. We could barely keep our eyes open on the drive back to our hotel, but I felt completely comfortable dozing off knowing we were in capable hands with Greg behind the wheel. And while we’re on the topic of the van ride… his playlist was perfect (we are a big classic rock family). He also had snacks, drinks and ginger chews (if anyone felt car sick). Note: If you are planning on going to the summit at Haleakala for sunrise or sunset… wear pants, sneakers, and upper layers. If you have a jacket/coat, bring it. It was 84 degrees when we stopped for lunch. It was 44 degrees when the sun was setting, and we were chilled additionally due to the winds and light rain before the sunset. Greg did make us hot chocolate and tea while we were sitting in the chairs he brought while we awaited the sunset, though!
