What stands out most here is the exceptional quality of the tour guides. James, Alex, Branden, Seth, and Jeffree all receive enthusiastic praise for their deep knowledge of the Columbia River Gorge, covering everything from geology and history to local ecology and plants. Reviewers consistently mention how passionate these guides are about the area, and it shows in the experience. They're described as friendly, funny, patient, and genuinely invested in making the tour memorable. Several guests note this was their favorite part of their Portland trip, and even a 56-year local discovered waterfalls they'd never seen before. The tours strike a nice balance between informative commentary and allowing time to soak in the stunning scenery. There's moderate hiking involved to reach the falls, which guides are very accommodating about, waiting patiently for slower walkers. Multiple reviewers emphasize that while you could drive to these locations yourself, going with a guide provides a much richer, more immersive experience. The guides also offer to take photos at scenic spots, which adds a thoughtful touch. Guests from near and far, including international travelers, describe the waterfalls as breathtaking and the overall experience as outstanding.
Had a great tour! Informative, well paced, and friendly. You do have to hike a little-but not far, to the waterfalls, so if you are a little on the “fluffy” side, like myself, be prepared. The tour guide was super nice and waited for us, even if we were slow as snails!
