Glass blowing sounds intimidating, and plenty of people show up nervous. What's clear from the reviews is that the instructors here, Emmy, Olivia, Jess, Jake, Stephanie, and others, are genuinely skilled at easing those nerves and getting complete beginners actively involved in the process. Reviewers consistently mention how hands-on the experience feels compared to similar studios elsewhere, with participants choosing their own colors, blowing and shaping the glass themselves, and walking away with something they're proud to display at home. The vibe at Makai Glass leans warm and unhurried. Several reviewers specifically noted that instructors take their time rather than rushing groups through, and the studio itself is described as clean, organized, and professionally run. Families with kids, couples, and friend groups all seem to have a great time, and the range of creatable pieces, from whale tails and turtles to wine glasses and waves, gives people a few different options to consider. Many visitors are already fans of the gallery before ever taking a class, which says a lot about the quality of work coming out of this place.
What an incredible afternoon! Our group of four took a class together and we made two turtles. Every moment of it was an absolute blast. I was nervous going in. Working with hot glass felt intimidating before we even started. Our instructor Jess immediately put me at ease. She was patient, encouraging and genuinely enthusiastic, and she had a real gift for making something that could feel scary feel totally approachable and fun. Jess walked us through every step with clarity and confidence, and she was right there whenever we needed guidance. By the end, we were all proudly holding our own handmade glass turtles and couldn't stop talking about how much we'd loved it. If you're on the fence about trying a glass blowing class, do it.
