2 Hours
Up to 12 people
Beer, drinks, snacks
Set out on a private 2-hour morning sail and take in local sea life and sights of historic San Diego. Choose a captain-included trip for smaller groups or a bareboat charter for larger parties.
Bareboat charters do not include a captain. Captains on the roster charge $50 per hour plus tip, and booking notes also state a $100 captain fee due after the trip—clarify the exact captain fee with Greetwell before booking.
Reservations are 100% refundable if canceled outside of 72 hours of the date of the departure. If a trip is canceled by Sail San Diego for any reason, you will have the option of receiving a full refund.
Check in at the Sail San Diego office 20–30 minutes before departure to get your physical boarding pass. Gates open 10 minutes before departure.
Yes. Have every guest sign the digital sailing waiver before arrival, or you can sign at check-in.
Do not bring smoking materials, hard alcohol, or red wine. Drugs are strictly prohibited (including marijuana) while underway or at the marina; the vessel will return to the dock and Harbor Police will be called if the captain sees or smells marijuana.

Sail San Diego delivers consistently exceptional experiences on the water, earning praise from virtually everyone who steps aboard. The company runs intimate sails with a maximum of six guests, creating a personalized atmosphere that feels more like sailing with a knowledgeable friend than a commercial tour. Multiple experienced captains rotate through the fleet—including Greg, Dave, Stu, Rich, and Frank—and guests rave about their sailing expertise, local knowledge, and genuine personalities. The booking process is refreshingly smooth from start to finish. Staff make thoughtful touches like calling ahead with details, coordinating food pickups from nearby restaurants, and greeting guests warmly at the dock. On the water, captains skillfully handle everything from gusty conditions to relaxed sunset cruises while pointing out landmarks and answering questions. Many reviewers highlight spotting dolphins and enjoying spectacular skyline views. The boats themselves are clean and well-equipped, with some captains providing music, snacks, and drinks. Whether you choose a midday harbor sail or sunset cruise, expect a relaxing yet engaging experience that consistently ranks as a trip highlight.
What a great day to sail! David Hobbs was the best captain ever! He gave us a great tour of the bay, the ships, all the secrets of the bay! Things you would never believe. They are open 365 days a year! Why haven't we thought of this before. It's definitely must just to visit San Diego. You won't leave disappointed! The reservations are easy and so is finding the check in place and even the boarding was easy. We'll definitely plan to go again this year with Dave!
