The staff here consistently stands out as the highlight of every experience. Instructors like Devon, Reid, Julie, and Shawn earn genuine praise across the board for being knowledgeable, safety-focused, and deeply passionate about marine conservation. Whether you're working toward your PADI certification or chasing bucket-list dives to Ni'ihau Island, the small group sizes mean you get real attention and personalized guidance rather than being shuffled through a crowd. The dive sites themselves deliver. Turtles, monk seals, sharks, eels, octopus, and nudibranchs show up regularly in reviews, and the crew has a sharp eye for spotting wildlife others would swim right past. The longer offshore trips, like the Ni'ihau excursion, are more adventure than luxury, so come prepared for open water crossings and some salt spray on the ride home. For experienced divers who prefer more autonomy in gear setup, the boat-side procedures may feel a bit rigid, but most guests find the hands-on approach reassuring rather than limiting.
Had a great dive with Shawn and Sergio and Fathom Five five to Ni’ihau. Bucket list dive trip. we saw 3x monk seals and several sharks, including a sandbar shark and a white tip reef shark. Very capable boat, more adventure than luxury. the beanbags are quite comfortable and some people slept on the way out. We had good weather 6 foot swells in the channel, but not a ton of wind. It’s 2.5 hours each way and so quite remote, but definitely worth the trip. Take the ponchos for the trip home you’re going to get wet. We dove on 3 different sites - 1:vertical awareness, 2: pyramid point, and 3: arches. These are geological formations that formed during the last ice age are now submerged. Shawn had a lot of great information. Sergio great aloha spirit. It was a terrific and safe operation on our 3 Tank Intor to nitrox dive. Thanks fathom five.
