    Highlights

Explore the remote shoreline of Tomales Bay on a guided outing designed for first-time and experienced paddlers alike. Begin with onshore preparation before heading out on the water.

    • Build confidence with time for onshore preparation before launch
    • Paddle across calm bay waters along the remote shoreline
    • Use a provided paddle jacket and dry bag
    • Discover a coastal outing suited to new and seasoned paddlers

    Itinerary

We will meet at Miller Boat Launch (next to Nick’s Cove Restaurant and Cottages). After organizing gear, reviewing basic kayaking instructions and safety procedures, we'll launch our boats and paddle across the bay to the Point Reyes National Seashore. As we kayak along the shoreline we will discover the myriad and diverse animals which inhabit the Bay and its shores. On these tours we often see cormorants, pelicans, harbor seals, bat rays, leopard sharks, osprey, river otters, and sea lions. The area around Hog Island is also rich in wildlife and scenic beauty. All guided tours are in tandem closed deck sea kayaks. Our double kayaks track well, are difficult to capsize, and are easy to maneuver. All the necessary gear such as life jackets, paddles, and spray skirts is provided.

4-Hour guided paddle; explore the scenic beauty of Tomales Bay with a relaxed half-day tour. Wildlife encounters spot harbor seals, bat rays, seabirds, and—if you’re lucky—tule elk Stunning Coastal Views Take in panoramic views of Hog Island, the Point Reyes peninsula, local oyster beds, and scenic rock formations along the west side of the bay Insightful guide narration learn about local ecology, marine life, and cultural history from experienced naturalist guides We'll go rain or shine. Please arrive 15 minutes before your tour starts.

    FAQs

Expect your footwear to get wet and muddy, and some clothing may get damp. Most people do not get very wet on the tour.

Plan to spend the first 30–40 minutes of the 4-hour tour on shore preparing for your paddle.

Prepare for variable conditions. Mornings are often cool or foggy and may warm by late morning or early afternoon, so dress in layers.

The people at Blue Waters were all very friendly and helpful. The Equipment was in very good shapecondition and they worked with us around some bad weather and were flexible enough to make our trip still still happen.
