Shuttle your own kayak to the 7-mile launch and start paddling sooner
2 to 3 hours
Kayak transport, Shuttle drop-off
Get your personal kayak transported to your chosen starting point for the 7-mile trip. You’ll be dropped off at the Natural Rockbridge Launch Site and finish at the designated pull-out for personal boats.
Flip flops and glass are not allowed. A life vest is required for each person, and children under 14 must wear one. Late fees apply if boats are not back by the designated time.
Refund if you cancel at least 7 days before arrival date, minus a $10 processing fee. In adverse weather or lightning, you can reschedule; the rescheduling opportunity extends for one year from the date of issue.
Bring a kayak that weighs 90 lbs or less.
Carry one life vest for each person in your vessel. Children under age 14 must wear a securely fastened life vest, and all life vests must be the proper size.
Wear footwear other than flip flops. Do not bring glass or Styrofoam coolers; use a soft cooler instead.
Hocking Hills Adventures is clearly doing something right with their combination of river trips and primitive camping. The kayaking and canoeing on the Hocking River gets consistent praise for being scenic, family-friendly, and well-organized. Staff members like Shane, Christine, and Bear earn specific shoutouts for their hospitality and helpfulness. The equipment is reliable, check-in runs smoothly, and the trips accommodate everyone from young kids to seniors looking for a mellow float. The camping setup offers a refreshingly rustic experience tucked back in the woods with spacious, private sites that feel wonderfully secluded. You'll find fire rings and picnic tables at each spot, though it's worth knowing this is truly primitive camping (bring your own grate if you want one). The single-use restroom facilities with private showers stay clean and well-stocked, though they're about a 5-8 minute walk from the sites. Since this is a newer location still developing, signage could be clearer and some guests suggest portable toilets closer to camp would be convenient during busy season. If you're after a back-to-nature vibe rather than a full-service campground, this place delivers exactly that authentic atmosphere.
We had a beautiful sunny kayak trip down the river! We had a single and double kayak, with our 9 year old grandson. We were warmly welcomed and the trip was on time. Equipment and transportation was great. Highly recommended!
