Join a shared introduction to surfing at Rockaway Beach, designed for beginners learning to catch waves.
Book a class to join in on a small group session with 3-10 other participants. No prior surfing experience required! This option is best for beginners looking to learn the basics in a small group setting. We’d recommend a private lesson or package for intermediate level surfers looking to seriously master their surfing technique, those who are not strong swimmers or those with special needs. This group class includes 5-minutes of Beginner Surf Technique Training & Ocean Safety on the beach with the remaining time being spent in the water catching waves with Certified Instructors. A board/wetusit will be provided. Please be on time for the class start time. We cannot wait for anyone running late, so we’d recommend planning to arrive 30-60 minutes early in the case of a public transit delay. This class involves physical activity, and you should be able to carry a 10lb surfboard. You must pay in advance to join the class. This class is offered May 31st - October 26th.
Cancel or reschedule at least 72 hours in advance. Last-minute cancellations are not eligible for a refund. Lessons are rescheduled for inclement weather, including thunderstorms or dangerous surf conditions. Classes can proceed in rainy or cloudy weather if you wish.
