Guided Denali Highway Jeep Excursion

TLDR: Go for it, it's a lot of fun! Booked this as a cruise excursion and, to be honest, we were starting to get cold feet. We own and drive a Jeep off road (a little) at home and started to wonder if this was a good way to spend an evening. We eventually decided to go for it and are very happy we did! This is a guided self driving tour of the original Denali highway. No, you are not going wheeling in someone else's Jeep. While that would be amazing, I think it would 1) destroy the scenery we came here to see, and 2) be virtually impossible to execute. In our group we had a few people who were not comfortable with the different feeling of driving a taller vehicle, never mind going off pavement and dealing with pot holes, large puddles, mud, and washboard! I can't imagine trying to navigate a real obstacle with this skill level split! I read some of the bad reviews and was then compelled to offer a different perspective. Please bear in mind, we drive a Jeep everyday, do light off-roading and had uncooperative weather for our tour (low clouds, intermittent rain and temps in the low 50s) We really enjoyed our tour! This feels more like a Jeep club with the tour guides genuinely working to share their passion for this area with the group. We were encouraged to use the radios during the tour to ask questions, announce any wildlife spottings, etc. Interacting via the radios really made a big difference in our tour! The guides did a good job with pacing the presentation. As for the jeeps, as others had said, they were in excellent mechanical condition and all were low miles. Yes, there was dirt on the floors as you would expect when exploring wet and muddy roads. Yes, snacks are light. Our jeep came stocked with fresh water bottles, and at the halfway mark we all got out to stretch and enjoy complimentary snacks (various types of chips). I was happy with these little touches and had also packed additional snacks for ourselves. Some people in our group had additional comfort needs which our guides went was above and beyond to accommodate. Finally, the speed of our group was about 35 for the off pavement portion. The road was in good shape and this was an appropriate speed. Sure I can drive a lot faster in these conditions, but that's not the goal, the goal was to enjoy the scenery. In the end, not only were we happy, but we felt like we learned a lot about the area and the people that lived here in the past as well as this living here now. If you are the business owner, we took your tour on the evening of Monday 9/7. Dan was one of our guides but I cannot recall the name of the lady who was guiding from the front. Both were excellent and a large part of our experience.
