3 hours
Shuttle, entry tickets, tips
Ride round-trip from Waikiki to Diamond Head State Monument and hike to the summit on a well-maintained trail. Your admission ticket is included for a straightforward start to your hike.
You must ride the tour shuttle; self-transportation is not allowed and you may be turned away at entry. Arrive 10 minutes early—late arrivals who miss the bus are considered no-shows. The trail is not wheelchair accessible and includes uneven terrain, steep staircases, and limited lighting in some areas.
48 hours notice required for a full refund. Less than 48 hours notice and no-shows may be charged full price. Full refund if the operator cancels due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances; you can also reschedule.
You must ride the tour shuttle. Self-transportation (Uber, taxi, walking, or personal vehicle) is not allowed, and guests who arrive on their own will be turned away at entry.
Arrive at your pick-up location 10 minutes before your scheduled time. The bus leaves on time and will not wait for late arrivals; if you miss it, you will be considered a no-show and will not be eligible for a refund.
Bring plenty of water, wear comfortable shoes with good grip (sneakers or hiking shoes), and pack light snacks. Sunscreen and a camera or smartphone are also recommended. Cash or a credit card can be useful for souvenirs, food stands, or tipping.
Waikiki
The tour guides here consistently steal the show. Names like Ian, Bon Jovi, Robert Chow, and Bill pop up repeatedly, with travelers raving about their humor, local knowledge, and genuine care for their passengers. These guides go beyond the standard script, sharing personal stories and treating guests like ohana (family). The enthusiasm is infectious, and many reviewers call this their trip highlight. Most people love the North Shore sights you'll visit, especially Waimea Falls and the botanical gardens. The buses are clean and comfortable, making the long day more enjoyable. That said, a couple of travelers wished for more breakfast options given the early pickup time, and lunch stops can be limited to a single cash-only vendor with just a few choices. There's also mention that some guides are better at engaging the whole bus rather than just the front rows. One person noted that if a main attraction like the waterfall closes unexpectedly, backup planning could be smoother. Despite minor hiccups, the overwhelming majority had fantastic experiences and would absolutely do it again.
