Common Ground Kauai
This regenerative farm experience combines education with exceptional farm-to-table dining that most guests found truly memorable. The farm tours are led by knowledgeable, welcoming staff who share the fascinating story of sustainable Hawaiian agriculture and native plants. Most reviewers rave about the fresh, locally-sourced meals, with the 14-hour braised Wailua beef earning particular praise. Many called it a highlight of their Kauai trip, appreciating how the dinner connects them to the land and local food culture. The lei-making workshops add a cultural dimension that guests of all ages and genders enjoyed more than expected. A couple of reviewers felt portions were smaller than anticipated and left hungry, noting the serving sizes leaned minimal despite premium pricing. One visitor compared it unfavorably to West Coast farm-to-table dining. However, these seem to be outliers, as the overwhelming majority described feeling nourished and satisfied by both the food quality and generous hospitality. Families appreciated the relaxed pace and kid-friendly atmosphere, while couples found it perfect for special occasions. The optional hike to nearby Stone Dam makes a beautiful prelude to the evening.
I highly recommend to experience the common ground sustainable faming activity while you are in Kauai. I had a very humbling experience visiting the farm, enjoying the food from kitchen and fruits grown in the farm. I felt connected to the culture of Kauai and the farm while interacting with very knowledgeable Willow during the farm tour. You will get glimpses of history on how the flora and fauna and food culture of the island has undergone adaptation to the ever changing human activity since the island was colonized. People working on the farm are very hospitable and the atmosphere is very calming. I highly recommend to do their dinning experience, it gave me a feeling of connection and gratitude to Mother Nature and the food tasted earthy and delicious. The property has a walking trail, waterfall and quiet picnic/reading point to relax after the tour/activity. I am sure I am going to visit Kauai and common ground and looking forward to be a volunteer at some point of time.
