Shawn and Gwendolyn were excellent guides. I loved that they were professionals in their field and shared their knowledge with us. This was not a typical underground walk- no paved path, handrails, lights, but rather walking through the mine as miners would have with only the light from the group’s helmet. I liked our small group and the unique perspective. For in our group continued on to the miner’s tour portion and rappelled to the lower level and explored more rugged areas- including cruising a suspension bridge. This was outside of my usual comfort zone, but the two guides were so patient and skilled that you felt comfortable trying something new.
