Take on an extremely strenuous guided hike to Half Dome, including the cables section, with an early start from Curry Village. If conditions make the cables unsafe, your guide will switch to an alternate plan.
This hike is an extremely strenuous physical challenge and is recommended only for those in strong physical condition who have trained. Gloves and high-traction boots or trail running shoes are needed for the cable climb; no sneakers.

Bring gloves (work, gardening, or climbing gloves) to help you grip the cables. Wear boots or trail running shoes with great traction—the cable climb is very steep and slippery. No sneakers.
Pack lunch, snacks and electrolytes, a sun hat, sunglasses, a 3L water capacity per person (you can start with one full bottle), sunscreen, bug spray, a raincoat and warm layer, and a headlamp (you start before sunrise).
