Paddle to Moku Nui with a guide, snorkeling gear, and island exploration
5 hrs
Kayak gear, snorkeling gear, snacks
Join a guided ocean kayak outing to Moku Nui, one of Kailua's Twin Islands. Explore sheltered waters and coral reefs while learning about the islands' natural environment.
Please meet at the Kailua Storefront to check-in 30 minutes before your tour starts. Here you’ll meet your guide and receive a safety demo, description of the route, kayaking lessons, and a brief cultural history.
From there we will guide you through strapping your kayak to your 4-door vehicle and provide you with all the necessary equipment to have fun, including lifejackets.
You will then drive to Kailua Beach Park ( 6 minute drive) and meet your guide in the water with your kayak and gear where your tour will begin.
No car? No problem. Adventurers can be dropped off directly at our storefront as there is no need for a car for this adventure. We will equip you with E-Bikes to send you on your way to take a scenic 20 minute bike ride to the kayak launching area.
Once you arrive, your guide will direct you on how to get in and out of your kayak safely and how to paddle effectively.
If you’re feeling adventurous, you may be able to stop at Popoia island on the way to Moku Nui as well as stop at Lanikai beach to snorkel, just ask your guide.
On the way out to the Mokes your guide will explain the local cultural and historical significance of these islands as well as the animal life that call them home. Maybe even seeing a sea turtle or a monk seal.
Once on Moku Nui Island your guide will help you explore and hike around, visiting queen’s bath and its surrounding tidepools and possibly the back side of the island if the weather permits.
As you head back on your kayak you get spectacular views of Kailua Bay and Lanikai and talk story with your guide about this special place.
When you return to Kailua beach you will simply strap the kayak back on your car and meet the guide at the Kailua Storefront for unloading of equipment and any last minute photos.
Free cancellation with a 100% refund more than 48 hours before start. Reschedule for another day instead. No refund for cancellations within 48 hours of start. Rescheduled tours are nonrefundable. If the operator cancels due to hazardous weather, you can reschedule or receive a refund.

The crew here absolutely nails the laid-back vibe that makes renting kayaks and paddleboards feel effortless rather than like a chore. Michael, Kyle, and Ethan get called out by name repeatedly for going beyond basic customer service. They're the kind of guys who'll share local apple bananas, help you figure out how to strap kayaks onto a tiny rental car without disaster, and actually give you useful advice about where to paddle. People mention heading out to Moku Island (Mokoli'i) and the sandbar as popular destinations, with the guides offering clear instructions that make first-timers feel comfortable tackling ocean kayaking even if they've never done it before. What really stands out is how chill and accommodating the team is when things don't go according to plan. Running late because of traffic? They're understanding as long as you call. Friend gets sick the night before? They'll process a refund without hassle. One group even got treated to island snacks including fresh poke and pineapple after their tour. The equipment itself gets solid marks, arriving in good shape and including snorkel gear with rentals. Whether you're looking for an affordable DIY kayak rental or want to join a guided tour on e-bikes pulling kayaks to Kailua, the consistent theme is stress-free service from genuinely nice people who make the experience memorable for the right reasons.
Mario was so accommodating and friendly. He was very responsive over the phone and communicated very effectively throughout the whole process. We booked a 3 person kayak and had a great efficient experience with active Oahu. This is a very honest local business. Mahalo!
