Bring your certification card, a reusable water bottle, a towel, reef-safe sunscreen, and a jacket for surface intervals.
Plan for at least an 18-hour surface interval after diving before you fly or travel to elevation (for example, zip line tours or visiting Haleakala).
Complete the required medical history questionnaire in your waiver. Some divers must also get a physician’s release; if you need one and arrive without it (or it’s incomplete), you can come aboard as a passenger but you can’t dive and you won’t be refunded.
Ma’alaea Harbor, Slip 23
Perched just a few miles off the coast of Maui, Molokini rises from the Pacific as a crescent-shaped sliver of volcanic rock, its sheltered lagoon shimmering in shades of turquoise and cobalt. Beneath the surface, visibility can stretch beyond 100 feet, revealing a living reef teeming with reef fish, sea turtles, and the occasional white-tip reef shark. Stepping off a snorkel boat into the calm waters of Molokini, you enter one of Hawaii's most protected marine preserves, where the crescent walls block open-ocean swells and concentrate an extraordinary diversity of sea life in one intimate space.
Divers rave about the exceptional professionalism and attention to detail here. The crew stands out for remembering everyone's names, handling all the gear setup, providing individual dry boxes for belongings, and offering warm water rinses after dives. Guides like Nick, Dave, Joe, and Don consistently earn praise for their knowledge and ability to maximize bottom time, often letting divers stay down for 60+ minutes. The operation runs smoothly from booking through the actual dives, with Beth frequently mentioned for being helpful and accommodating with scheduling. The dive sites themselves are outstanding, from Molokini's back wall to Lanai's Cathedrals, with regular sightings of octopus, sharks, lobster, and endemic species. What really sets this operation apart is how they handle mixed experience levels, allowing confident divers to explore independently while still providing guidance when needed. One dissenting voice felt the boat was overcrowded with too many divers per guide, but this appears to be an outlier among overwhelmingly positive experiences. Multiple reviewers call this their top dive operator, with many returning trip after trip.
Absolutely incredible experience!! We went on four dives with Maui Diamond, all of which were completely out of this world. I saw so many critters that I couldn’t even keep count, and the crew members were so kind, organized, and extremely funny. I would 1000% recommend!!
